The Central Veterinary Institute is the main Dutch organisation for contract research in the field of infectious animal diseases. The institute combines fundamental and applied research and puts this into practice. Over 250 researchers focus their efforts on the prevention, detection, control and elimination of infectious animal diseases using innovative and scientifically proven methods.

There are eleven work fields within the Central Veterinary Institute:

Independent contract research through combined knowledge and facilities
Thanks to its collection of unique knowledge on infectious conditions and the ability to use its own laboratories and conduct research in its own animal facilities, the Central Veterinary Institute has become a leading independent contract research organisation (CRO) meeting the highest international standards.
